This is an installation piece by Korean artist, Do Ho Suh where he has thousands of miniature plastic figures that hold up the floor. This piece clearly uses the repetition of the of the plastic figures with their hands raised, but disrupts the monotony of it by using a couple of different colors. The concept of this installation is interesting because the viewer actually stands on the piece as he or she views it.

Sonya Clark Combs.

I like Sonya Clark's work it is very open to me. I feel it as deep and intricate . she often creates peices based on found objects in this case combs.
Sonya Clark is a highly decorated artist whose work has been exhibited in over 250 museums and galleries in every major region of the world. She funds her work with variauos grants and fellowinships earned into the thousand s of dollars. As of today chair the Department of Craft/Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. According to the CWV website. "The department has been ranked by US News and World Reports as #4 in Fiber, #5 in Glass, #10 in Metals and #12 in Clay. Overall, VCUarts is ranked nationally as the #1 public university in the arts."

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol's Marilyn Diptych obviously displays the element of repetition, also it can represent symmetry. Although none of the pictures of Marilyn are exactly the same as one another they still trick they eye into thinking that they are the same image. This is one of Warhol's most famous works and is replicated in numerous places. I really like this piece because of the meaning behind it, and that it was produced a couple weeks after Marilyn Monroe's suicide. That factor alone makes the piece quite controversial. 

Willow branch sculpture

Stillness in motion is a sculpture by Cleveland-based artist Olga Ziemska that was installed in 2003 at the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Oronsko, Poland. The piece is made entirely from cut willow branches that have been cut and stacked to create a human figure.

Unique Forms of Continuity in Space, Umberto Boccioni

This piece represents the epitome of movement to me. As someone who is majoring in sculptor I find it hard to morph a stagnate object or materials into the sense of movement. Umberto does an amazing job in this piece because there is an undeniable sense of movement created from the ambiguous trailing forms coming off of the figure. This piece looks like an abstracted man walking. 

Knife typography

Life is beautiful is a 2009 installation by Iranian artist Farhad Moshiri using hundreds of kitchen knives to create some exquisite typography.

Urban Greenhouse

In Sweden the whole concept of growing space has taken on a whole new life. This building prototype in Linkoping, Sweeden offers various solutions to problems such as pollution, limited growing space, and growing seasons that face the city. The Plantagon will offer fresh produce year round! The futuristic project is set for a rough completion date of 12 to 16 months from start to finish. 

 

Fountain, Marcel Duchamp 1917

Duchamp is known, mainly, for this piece and other examples of his installation pieces. I really like this piece because it's an ordinary thing to us, but somehow it becomes art by being placed in a certain way and marked a certain way.
