Leda and the Swan
This is "Leda and the Swan" by Cy Twombly, created in 1962. Twombly produced a highly abstracted telling of an ancient myth using only lines. In the myth, Zeus morphed into a swan and, depending on the telling, raped or seduced Leda. There are a few legible symbols, such as the window and the hearts. The rest of the lines have a frantic, violent quality that conveys the mood of the story's events. The more you look at the piece, the more the mind tries to deduce different pieces of the story. The lines can be read in different ways by different people. Even without knowing the background information, a viewer could still get a feel for what the artist was trying to portray. The characteristics of the lines speak for themselves.
an amazing line maze can leave you in a blind daze as if you were suddenly placed in outter space...
This is a line drawing, said to be a way to express thoughts and feelings through maze line drawing, artist Steven J Natanson proclaims... I think this is a display of superb execution of the construction of a line drawing. I feel this artist (in compiling lines to form a maze) explored many different types and shapes of lines, from a simple "thin" line to a complex "curvy", thicker lines that possess more character. Give this guy a hand clap! I'm also intrigued by the many shapes this piece contains; it's always neat to know that lines can make shapes...any shape you want it to! And with a different perspective, like turning the piece upside down, the lines may even make a shape you don't intent them to make!
Texture Pic
I feel the artist of this piece did an outstanding job conveying the concept of 'texture' with this photograph he/she (the artists' name is: Michoacan) took of an object, that's said to be an "Element of Mexican Design (#4). To me, it's as though this could be a photo, painting, or drawing, and even though it's a 2-D image, I still feel the edges, points, and "pyramidy" surface, just by looking at it...Image if it was a 3-D image, and what it could feel like to you if you closed your eyes and ran your hand of the object...

Lines
An artist at the Fay Gold Gallery, Tony Hernandez, does a lot of simple work on paper. I have included several pieces which I thought demonstrate different kinds of lines. You can see that he uses a lot of line throughout his work, whether it be fuzzy, thin, thick; straight or curvy. They are mostly used to represent people. However, if you look around, lines can be found in the simple structure of most things. Tony Hernandez takes something complex, like a girl, or a bird, and draws the most simple, structural lines, and any viewer can see that he is depicting that object.

Interesting Texture by Jennifer Vranes
The middle one was especially interesting to me because it looks like a birch tree, or birch art. In the blog is actually has the tag 'birch art'. I though this was an interesting piece because of the bright unnatural colors that don't relate to bark, but do relate to the seasons when plants are warm and rich.

Vector Texture
I'm a big fan of vector art but this style is not known for having great texture because it mostly uses solid colors with thick outlines. In this piece by SCARECROWOVEN everything looks melted and goopie and zombie-like. The colors used are bright and vibrant but because if the textures it has a dark and scary feel to it.

Sandra Dieckmann - Texture
Sandra uses a series of texture along with her colors throughout her ilustrations to give a sense of depth and character to her illustrations, which generally feature wildlife animals and colorful scenery created with patterns and cut-outs. I love her work, and her textures appropriately add a greatness to her works that can be categorized in 2D-, or visual texture.
Texture
This is a piece by Andy Goldsworthy, one of my absolute favorite artists. He alters nature in interesting ways to make patterns and interesting compositions. I chose this to show texture becuase I feel like nature is full of so many different textures and he captured these textures in such a unique way.

Texture and Architecture
The Spanish Pavilion built for the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition was made very distinctive by its texture, which was a result of the craft that went into building it. The design firm Catalan EMBT Miralles-Tagliabue used the tradition of wicker basket weaving as a link between Spain and China. What you see are handmade wicker panels attached to a metal frame that creates the structure. This results in a roughly textured surface that plays interestingly with the biomorphic form. From afar, the Pavilion appears as a rough, scaly undulating mass, but closer inspection reveals the handmade nature of the panels. In this way, Spain constructed a thoroughly modern building that also referenced its proud heritage. Past was linked with the present.

Texture Research
Backblech
I posted this picture because I really like the way this texture looks. It seems that the feel of it would be different, like something I never felt before. I could find the name of the artist on the website, but if you want to see it and other textures here's the link: http://www.graphicmania.net/free-amazing-texture-art/

I thought this was a pretty dope diptych that I'm assuming was altered to have a more vector/digatal look to it rather than the actual photographs.
