Black and White Diptych

This is a set of photos taken by Rachel Devine, with Beyond Snapshots. She and Peta Mazey take photos mostly of children and babies. I read on their site, in reference to these photos, how available light can be used to prefect a photo. This is an example of how light has an effect on diptychs. These photos were explained as to be taken the same time and place and of the same subject. However, the one with the girl facing the big window, using natural light, almost shows as a silhoette, and to me, emotes knowledge. Whereas the other photo, of the girl up close, using unnatural light, expresses curiosity.
